He who works with his hands, and his head is a craftsman.
He who works with his hands, and his head, and his heart is an Artist."

Artist Bio

I started drawing at an early age.  Later, I was lucky enough to spend several years in France where I worked for a lovely man named Daniel who was a graphic artist.  Later, I worked in an ad agency studio.  After returning to the States, I spent a few years in U.S. Coast Guard as a Public Affairs Specialist.  We spent much of our time photographing the many Artist & Nude 5missions of the service, including drug interdictions, refugee rescues, and oil and chemical spills.  It was truly a rewarding experience, and I am glad for the many wonderful people I knew.  Following my military service, I attended Miami New School of Art.  Later, I received a Bachelor's degree in Human Relations at Golden Gate University, in San Francisco.   I continue to take painting and drawing classes.  I love to explore the connections between the images in our minds and the reality before us.

My favorite subjects to paint are portraits and nudes. The human body fascinates me. I constantly search for the divine in all my subjects and try to breathe life into them. I also try to unlock the secrets hidden behind people's faces. I'm fascinated by the emotions drawn on the face visible in the lines that describe a person's experiences. Words are not necessary to demonstrate all the ways we are similar. Hopefully, that can be a bridge between our differences.

I like lots of other things, too. I think that Motorcycles are amazing machines.  I have a Suzuki VX800.  I wouldn't mind adding a Harley Davidson Dyna Glide Low Rider or even building my own custom bike.  I also love comic books.  Neil Gaiman is one my favorite comic writer.  Strangers in Paradise is another great comic that just keeps getting better.  I also love all animals.  I have a cat called Seymour.  Anyways, I hope you like my work.  It's done with love. I would like to leave you with these beautiful words from Mother Teresa.

Each one has a mission to fulfill, a mission of love.
At the hour of death when we come face to face with God,
we are going to be judged on love; not how much we have done,
but how much love we have put into our actions.

- Mother Teresa of Calcutta
